The Problem
In underground mining, tracking the actual load of each LHD bucket is often manual and imprecise. Operators rely on experience or visual judgment, which can lead to inconsistent loading — sometimes under-loaded, reducing productivity and fuel efficiency, or over-loaded, increasing wear, spillage, and posing serious safety risks to both the machine and personnel. Without accurate, real-time data on bucket status and count, mines struggle to evaluate operator performance, optimize cycle times, and ensure safe, efficient operations.
Our Solution
The LoopX Loading Awareness System combines AI-powered vision and edge computing to automatically detect and record each LHD bucket’s load status and cycle count in real time. Using camera data and intelligent algorithms, the system determines whether a bucket is empty, partially filled, or fully loaded, and identifies underload or overload conditions before they affect safety or productivity. All data is processed directly on the vehicle’s edge computer and can be synchronized with the control room dashboard when connected, giving operators and supervisors instant visibility into loading performance, cycle time, and productivity trends.
